Questions, answered
Everything you need to know before you join.
Getting started
Do I need travel industry experience to join?
No. You don't need any experience to start. On-demand training inside JourneyFuse walks you through the basics, and our team is an email away when you get stuck.
What do I need to get started?
A phone, a computer, and an internet connection. Everything else — your CRM, training, and supplier access — comes with your membership.
Is this a full-time job?
Only if you want it to be. You're an independent travel agent, so you work as much or as little as you choose. Many agents start part-time alongside another career and grow at their own pace — no pressure.
Can I work from anywhere?
Yes. All you need is an internet connection. Set your own hours and run your business from home, the road, or the beach.
Can I transfer from another agency?
Yes. We'll help you move over, bring your client list into JourneyFuse, and get you booking again quickly.
Will BayVista give me clients?
You'll build your own client base — your friends, family, and network are a great start. We give you the training, tools, and supplier resources to help you grow it.
How quickly can I get started?
Right away. Once your enrollment is complete and your JourneyFuse workspace is ready, you can start training, registering with suppliers, and booking.
Can I book my own vacations?
Yes. You can book your own travel and earn commission on it, subject to each supplier's rules.
Do I need a license to sell travel?
Requirements vary by state. When you join, we'll walk you through what applies where you live.
Money & commissions
How much does it cost to join?
A one-time $150 enrollment fee, then $25 per month. That includes your JourneyFuse CRM seat — normally $25/month on its own — plus E&O insurance, so your membership pays for itself.
What is the commission split?
80/20 — you keep 80% of the commission BayVista receives on your bookings.
Are there sales minimums or quotas?
No. There are no sales minimums or quotas to join or to stay — book as much or as little as you like. Some supplier perks have their own eligibility rules if you want to maximize your benefits.
When do I get paid?
Suppliers pay commission to BayVista, usually after your clients travel. We pay your share monthly, with a statement showing each booking.
Is the enrollment fee refundable?
No. The $150 enrollment fee is non-refundable. Your $25 monthly membership (which includes JourneyFuse, a $25/mo value) can be canceled anytime.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes, anytime — just email our team. There are no long-term contracts.
How do taxes work?
BayVista agents are independent contractors, so you're responsible for your own taxes. We provide the tax forms required for the commissions we pay you.
How much can I realistically earn?
It depends on what and how much you sell. Try our earnings calculator to estimate your take-home based on your annual sales and the kinds of trips you book.
JourneyFuse & training
What is JourneyFuse?
JourneyFuse is a CRM built for travel advisors — clients, leads, trips, proposals, itineraries, client payments, and commission tracking in one place.
Is JourneyFuse really included?
Yes. JourneyFuse normally costs $25/month on its own. Every active BayVista agent gets a seat as part of the $25/month membership — no separate subscription, so your membership pays for itself.
Where does training happen?
Training lives inside JourneyFuse, so you learn in the same place you work — on demand, at your own pace.
I already have clients in another system. Can I bring them?
Yes. JourneyFuse supports importing your existing client list, so you can start from where you are.
Perks & FAM trips
What are FAM trips?
Familiarization (FAM) trips are discounted or supplier-hosted trips that let you experience the destinations, resorts, and ships you sell. BayVista posts available FAMs in your agent portal, where you can request a spot.
What travel perks do agents get?
Active agents can access travel-agent rates and discounts from suppliers such as theme parks, cruise lines, and all-inclusive resorts. Benefits are subject to supplier eligibility and change.
Is there a referral bonus?
Yes. When someone you refer joins BayVista and stays active for 6 months, you earn a $50 bonus.
Support & community
What industry credentials does BayVista hold?
BayVista Travel operates with IATA / IATAN and CLIA credentials, which suppliers recognize when you book.
Is E&O insurance included?
Yes. Errors & omissions insurance is included with your membership.
Is there an agent community?
Coming soon. We're building a private BayVista agent community where you can share ideas, ask questions, and celebrate wins with other agents.
How do I reach the BayVista team?
Email us anytime at hello@bayvistatravel.com. A real person on our team will get back to you.
Leaving BayVista
If I leave, what happens to my clients?
Your clients are yours. Export your client list and trip history from JourneyFuse before you cancel — your JourneyFuse seat ends when your membership does.
What happens to pending commissions when I cancel?
Commissions that suppliers haven't paid out yet when you cancel stay with BayVista. If you have trips still to travel, it usually makes sense to keep your membership until those commissions have been paid.
Can I come back later?
Yes. Rejoin anytime with the same $150 enrollment fee and $25/month membership (which still includes JourneyFuse, a $25/mo value). Your past commission statements stay available in your portal even after you cancel.
